Harvest
I love harvest time, even if it does mean the end of the summer is finally here. It is just nice seeing the farmers realise the fruits of their labours. It is all part of a farming cycle that has been going on before we were born and will go on after we are all dead. It is all part of nature.

It is something I will never tire of seeing, especially now I live in the countryside and the session and the protection of the farming land means so much to keep this county and country beautiful. it just a shame that it means the end of the summer and the start of the colder months, but I guess without those cold months we wouldn't have a summer and with it the warm months we all love so much.
In Rutland the harvest is a busy time and you can't fail to notice the toil in the fields with tractors and combine-harvesters working in the fields all bring in the crops we need to feed a nation. Sometimes it holds you up when your driving down a road, but at the end of the day it is just a little thing you have to allow for as you travel from A to B. And is it the end of the world if your journey takes a extra few minutes when what is stopping you is so important.

Who Cares it's just Countryside
As I the sunset over the countryside this evening I was more that concerned about the our rights at be able to have a say in the future of that countryside. Any reader of this blog will know that that the Tory bullied, if other blogs are to be believed, Rutland County Council is a lover of concrete and brick and hates everything green. Well now it seems the same party that has power in UK has the same polices, build and forget the environment and what local people think.
In the new planning frame work the Government reassured people that the changes would allow people more say in what happened in the places they lives. Many critics, myself included, that the local people would only be heard and taken account of if they said yes to new development. The whole frame work was designed to speed up he process of planning and support the building industry in the country, giving them free range to bulldoze the countryside, and that is what is happening here in Rutland.
Hawksmead development has been badged as Lakefield Homes in the hope that people won't notice the change and there bulldozers have started destroying the green belt around Oakham with the backing of Rutland County Council who are after the Government bribes for building new homes. What gets me is the whole process is legalised corruption and has nothing to do with the peoples wishes. I'm sure the majority of people in Rutland don't support the destruction of farming land for housing, especially when there are soon going to be brown field sites avaliable.

Warm Saturday
It might have not been the sunniest day of the year but at least it was a warm one, and that meant one thing we could get out and about and enjoy some of the fresh air and the countryside.
So after getting Lucy it was out to the parks. We started in Oakham park, which Lucy loves, before heading to the some shops and then after lunch we went further a feild to the large park we had found a few months ago with the stocks. The park in question is in the village of Witham on the Hill in Lincolnshire. This time she had Catherine to play with and the two of them had a smashing time before we returned home for dinner.
With dinner cooked and eaten, lucy got on with playing with her sisters before it was time for her to go to bed. Soon she was all tucked up and after her kisses and cuddles from the people she loves, and a couple of stories from me and her sisters off she went to sleep. It was lovely to have her home again. I can't say how much I miss her when she isn't here.

Unexpected Breakdown
The last thing I wanted on a day Lucy was coming was to breakdown and that is what happened and I was stuck in the village unable to get her from the city.
Thankfully I have a really good garage and I know they will do there best to get me going again, even if they have to work into the night, and they didn't let me down. So it off to get Lucy tomorrow from the city. I can't wait to see her and I know her sisters feel the same.
