Britian's Got Talent Returns

Well tonight saw the start of another year of the viewing ratings winner Britain’s got Talent, and a family favourite to boot, and what a show it was. It was certainly one of the best, if not the best, opening night to the show in an age.

 

There were so many great acts all packed into one show as well as the usual mix of funny but forgettable acts that contrast so beautifully with the acts that stand out as being special.
 

The two child acts that showed the young talent in the show came from a singer and a young comedian, who whatever happens seemed destined, if they so desire to have a future in their fields of entertainment. They were:

Then the two adult acts that stood out, these being a troop of 9 shadow dancers from Hungary and a female singer with the sexy and sultry voice who sang like a goddess. They were:

I hope the rest of the show continues like this, for if that is dose we have something fun and exciting to take our minds off the appalling mess the country is in. We could all do with a bit of cheer in what seems a cheerless world for many if you read the news.

Feels like Spring

Well the weather has turned at last for the better and fingers crossed we won't have any more snow until next winter. It really feels at the moment that spring has arrived and although not warm, there is the promise of warmer weather to come.

 

What I love about this time of year is that it normally feels like a time of rebirth with the countryside turning from the browns of the winter into the lush greens of the spring. Then there are the birds and their songs and the gardenss blooming with lovely yellow daffodils.

As for the blog you never know I might start writing again if things one day manage to sort themseleves out and I have something to say.

I just noticed the counter has tipped the 100,000 mark, something I never thought would have been possible when I statred it. Celebrity Big Brother - Final Winter 2013

Another Celebrity Big Brother comes an end on channel five with what turned to out to be a worthy winner, and it won't be until the summer until the main show returns to entertain us.

It has been a good series full of the usual up and downs that the house normally sees. Of course some of the house mates failed to make the house mate grade, on the whole they were a good bunch and gave the public the entertainment that we needed to avoid the show being a flop. It certainly did well rating wise and it should ensure the continuation of the Celebrity version of the show for a while.

The winner of the show was Rylan Clark whose claim to fame is that he is an actor, model and singer who reached the quarter-finals of the last series of the X-factor in the winter of 2012.My first impressions of him as a house mate were negative but as the show went on I warmed to him and I think in the end he made a worthy winner. 

The show is still looking good after all these years and the production company in both the main show and the celebrity version have found some good house mates and given them some fun tasks. Long may it go on.

Bedroom Tax

I was so shocked by the naivety of a out of touch Conservative Peer, Lord Freud, I had to write about another stupid Tory idea. I might not be able to gave an opinion and write about the actions of Rutland County Council without fear of litigation but I can still blog about national issues and will continue to do so until Westminster removes that right of free speech though similar laws which they are sure to bring in at some point to stop freedom of speech and thought.

What planet does Lord Freud think he is living on, telling someone that needs space for his 3 kids to sleep at weekends and over the school holidays to have them sleep on a pull out sofa in a one-bedroom property? For that was the advice he was giving out today on the Radio Five Live. Is he, and the government he is representing, trying to stop the poor fathers in this country from stopping seeing their children and having them stay? So much for the government being a party of the family.

This is just one case where the "bedroom tax" which is put of the government's Welfare Reform Act is hitting the poor in an unfair way. It is just one of many cases, other include the old and vulnerable in society who live on benefits. It is effectively pricing people out of their homes by cutting benefits to people in social housing who have extra bedrooms without evening looking at their needs. It would be fair if someone clearly didn’t need an extra bedroom, but in some cases there is a need or people are in housing that has been modified to meet their needs that just happens to have an extra bedroom.

You might ask how the Conservatives get away with this and get people on their side, well it is simple they are using the right wing British press to paint anyone on benefits as scroungers, when in fact many of the unemployed want jobs, most people on disabilities can’t actually work, and of course some of people getting benefits do work and can’t earn a living wage because of low incomes and wage levels, caused by the current economic situation. There are more people on benefits would like to work than their are so called scroungers.

It seems so wrong that the poor and disadvantaged are being paid for by the risks taken by the taking of the greedy rich that caused the economic times we now live in. In all this they seem to be getting away without taking any of the blame for this mess that they created. It goes without saying that person giving out the advice to the father of three children, Lord Freud was once a city banker, who admitted before he started working on welfare reform that he knew nothing about the subject.

Clearly Lord Freud has been reading and believing the same propaganda from the right wing press as those that think everyone on welfare is a scrounger and seems uninterested in real people and the real facts of life for many people. He hasn't thought how the poor will be disadvantaged by the polices he is helping to form. It is no wonder we are in the mess we are with people like him at the helm.

As an aside, it is interesting to note the Conservatives continue with their push for privatisation while conveniently forgetting the mess we are in now was all the fault of the private sector and it is the public sector that is being made to pay while those in business get away with it. Whoever said the Conservatives only look after their own was completely right!
