Christmas at Gates Nursery 2013

Well it is that time of the year again and the local nursery turns into a winter wonderland for anyone that has any sense of the inner child to delight in the sprite of christmas future, present and past. Here is a selection of some of the photographs from wandering around the display this year, which would have been better if I had remembered to put my reading glasses on before I took them.

If you are in the Rutland area or live in one of the near by cities and find your self down this way do pop into Gates Nursery , in if you have little ones there is Santa's Grotto which at £5.99 per child is great fun and great value too with excellent gifts for the children.

Christmas Comes Early

It seems that Chrismas comes earlier evey year and just to prove it, Gates Nursery thought it would be a good idea to roll out there Christmas display today to get people buying.

Although I love the Christmas display at Gates Nursery, personally I think there should be some kind of date before which we can't be bombard by Christmas stuff in the shops and on television. It really starting to get silly and even the supermarkets are at it, with Christmas frozen food appearing in the Tesco's in Oakham this month. It just spoils the special feel Christmas by starting it all too early until we are all bored by the whole thing because of the long run up to the holiday session.

Christmas at Gate's Nursery

Christmas is a special time, a time to put the past behind us, a time forget our troubles the best we can. There is no place more magical to indulge the Christmas experience than a trip to Gate's Nursery. The decorations and the colours are magical, as are the toys. Here is a few pictures from this years display.

It is one of the most magical places in the region to go to at this time of year. Children love it and adults too. What more it costs nothing to look and if you have ones as little as out Lucy then you can take them to Santa. Be assured they will have the time of their lives and get a present to mach the money you spend to see him. It is really wonderful.

A Hot Friday

Who would have guessed it would be as hot as it was today. When I woke up the day could have been wet or dry. It really could have gone either way. As it turned it the temperature passed the 30 degree mark while we were in Stamford, but more of that later.

The early morning was really uneventful. Catherine was up first, had breakfast and left with plenty of time to get to school. Mean while Emily just made it to school on time as usual. After they had left I finished my coffee had a shower and went to get Lucy.

When we arrived back and Lucy got changed into a dress. The temperature was already rising and it seemed the best course to keep her cool. Today it was the spotty dress that got the thumbs up.

The first part of the morning was spent playing around the house and in the garden. All she needs to do now is master steering her bike while peddling and she has master the art of riding her tricycle.

Once we were done in the garden it was off out to Stamford to feed the ducks, but like the best made plans this one went wrong. There was no where to park need the river. So after driving around for a bit trying to find a parking space we set off for Stamford Recreation Ground.

It quite a nice play area with lots to do for little ones and big ones alike. It was a bit hot to play for long but she had a good time all the same, playing on the slides and roundabouts.

After we finished there we returned to Rutland and popped into Gates Nursery Tea rooms to cool down and have something to drink and eat. It was lovely in the tearooms and to keep cool we sat under the air conditioning unit to keep us cool.

Emily and Catherine came home to the normal greeting from Lucy. Catherine's an hour later than Emily's as she had extra maths after school. It was school report day and I must say I was pleased with both emily and Catherine's report this year. They both did so well and they should be pleased with themselves. They have both worked really really hard and deserve the praise they got. The head teacher called Emily's report "amazing" while her teacher said she has had an "excellent year". She got all 5 in her SAT's tests at the end of the year. Not to be out done Catherine is making excellent progress and has a wonderful report too. well done to both of them for all there hard work. 

After dinner the house returned to stillness after Lucy's departure. Emily and Catherine settled down to some time on the computer and I started writing this blog.

It is my weekend to have Lucy so it all starts again tomorrow......
