Sort of Nothing Day

It been one of the those days where not very much gets done. The sort of day where you feel the time has gone and you are not sure why.

The morning was grey and the air was still damp when I got up and I really didn't want to get out of bed. It was just cosy and the house felt cold, but I had to get up and make the packed lunches and get Emily and Catherine off to school which I did after several sleep cycles on the alarm clock. 

I picked up Lucy at 10 and got some lovely "I love you Daddy" and hugs. I really miss those when she isn't about. We spent the morning doing nothing but playing around the house with Lucy taking off he jeans and refusing to put them back on.

In the afternoon went went to Langham park and to the shops for dinner. She had a great time pushing the shopping trolly around the supermarket. She getting rather good at now and needs hardly any help in keeping it straight. We decided on a simple of dinner of Southern Fried Chicken and American Fries with cake for pudding.

We got home just before Emily and Catherine came home from school. They got ready quickly and we set off for Oakham park for a little play before we cooked dinner. Emily and Lucy had great fun playing with the football on the hill. Emily being the goal keeper at the bottom and Lucy kicking the ball from the top. It is lovely to see them playing together.

We came home and had dinner and it was soon time for Lucy to go home. Quickly we had to get her ready as the time was short. Trust us to lose a sock and not have time to hunt for it. We had to send her back in a pair of our socks. I still dislike the drop off in particular, just because I miss her.

We got home and Catherine went off for a sleep over at her friends and Emily went out to play before coming home to eat cake!

Wonder what tomorrow will bring....

Good Fortune

We were out shopping and Emily got talking to someone in the supermarket that she spotted in a Twinlakes uniform. She waved us on to pay when I said it was time to leave nd carried on talking. Just as we were ready to leave she came running up with two free tickets for Twinlakes. Guess where we are going soon!

Big Brother 11 - Launch

I'm really looking forward to this years Big Brother especially after watching Celebrity Big Brother over the winter and dealing the some of the deep personal feelings attached to the show, after all if it wasn't for Big Brother I would never have met Kiz and if that hadn't happened I would have had little Lucy. Looking at the launch night line up I think it looks like it going to be a very promising show this year. I hope I'm right because it would be really good for it to go out on a high.

Save RAF Cottesmore

I know I will miss the sound of the aircraft if they close the base. It will be a sad loss for Rutland and the end to many years of the RAF being based in Rutland.

Rain.... What Rain!

We all got up at 8 o'clock ready for the start of a new term and the last one for Emily at Langham Primary school. Of course she was late as usual although she lives less than 5 minutes from school. Thankfully Catherine has changed her ways and is now nearly always on time.

At 10 o'clock after my shower I set off to pick up little Lucy from her mummies. As always I got a lovely smile and a cuddle from Lucy and blanked by her mummy. Shame really we I thought things were improving a little the last few times I have picked up since the last time I commented on it in the blog.  

From Lucy's mummies we immediately set off for Oakham park. The weather forecast was set wet for the day and set out to make the most of the day while it was still dry. She had a lovely time at the park and made two new friends. She even managed to get some grapes out of the two friends mummy and said thank you beautifully for everyone. 

With a big wave to her friends we set off to the supermarket to get something nice for lunch and the bits we were missing for dinner. We ended up getting eggs to have on toast, a new ball play with a small bag of sweets. She has taken to pushing the trolly round the store and then sitting in when it is time to pay so she can charm the checkout people, who seems to fall for her big blue eyes and cheeky grin. I just love the way she always remembers to say goodbye to them all with a wave.

Lunch was a winner. Lucy loves eggs in all forms. I was a little disturbed by something she said over and over again and I hope a stop has been put to that with a well placed email even if I didn't get a reply. 

After Lunch and a quick look at the sky we headed off to Langham park to run around and play. Although there is not so much do there as there is in Oakham she still really loves it. One of the thing I think she likes is that she has the place to herself and what there is there is much bigger.

On the way home we popped into the village church. It might to some seem a strange place to take a little one but we first went there one day when it was raining and she loved it. There are all the prayer cushions to rearrange, space to run and the piano to play. I find it very relaxing there and that is good for both of us. It is so lovely when the sun streams in and the place has this sense of history that out lives us all.

We made sure we back in time for the Emily and Catherine coming home from School. The weather was still fine and rain holding off and we wanted to make sure they didn't miss out on the fun. As soon as they were home I asked them to get changed and off we set for Oakham Park agin for an hour of fun. 

Catherine headed off for the swings while Emily joined me and Lucy in the play area. Soon Lucy was pushing Emily around the roundabout as fast as she could and Emily was laughing at the fun. Eventually Emily joined her sister on the swings and they all played happily until it was time to go home when the rain came as promised hours late.

Never takes long to get home from Oakham. Lucy was tired and sat with Emily to watch TV while I made the dinner. It was a simple affair and took less than 10 minutes to cook. Good thing too because it gave them more time to play after dinner than normal after they had eaten.

Home time for Lucy comes too soon for all of us. We all miss her so much when she is not here but come it did. Quickly dressing her in clean clothes, that I had washed that she came in, we head off to drop her back at her mummies. I not sure I will ever get use to dropping her off. I love them all but to take one part of me away still hurts and always will. I just have to keep thinking I will see her soon and they will all be back together.

However, it was a strange end to the day with Lucy. When we got home from the supermarket after dropping Lucy off we had a e-mail saying we had forgotten Lucy's Harold the helicopter. According to her mummy "very upset that she left it" at our house. So not wanted her too disappointed we took it back to her.... I hope she is pleasantly surprised in the morning to have it back to make up for the disappointment of leaving it behind.

Finally, I never did get a reply from the email I sent at lunchtime.... have an idea why. Shame when someone reads what you say wrong all the time.
