Beutiful Weather

This year it actually feels like summer after the disappointing summers of recent years. The sun has been high in the skies and the temperatures have been raising in to the upper twenties and better still it has been like that for day after day for a while now and with it have come stunning sunsets.

It just what I think we all need to banish away the winter blues and the wet spring that followed to drown our spirits. I know the girls are enjoying it and seeing the sun is enough to make most people smile. Feels like it hasn't been like this for years. Let's hope it carries on and on.

Sumer Sunsets

With the coming to the end of the summer I thought it would be nice to share some of the lovely sunsets we have had over the last few months,

 

 

 

Finally as for the blog it is still in a state of suspended animantion for a number of reasons and it looks set to stay that way for a while, but I hope seeing these pictures at least warms your heart.

Stunner

This year we have had some beautiful sunsets in Langham. Some of the best I have ever seen and tonight was no exception to this even although it was raining the sun managed produce this stunner.

With such a sunset it promises to be a lovely day tomorrow and a good one. I hope we get many more lovely sunsets before the year is out and more sunny days that follow to have fun in. There is nothing more heart warming to know the sun will be shining when you get up, other maybe a nice bacon and mushroom roll on a lazy sunday.

Sunny Langham

It been another lovely day here in Langham. The morning cloud melted away into lovely sunshine that shone all day long. Better still it wasn't too hot and it wasn't too cold. Just the sort of weather that makes you smile, and a lovely way to finish my summer holidays.

Again this morning I took Emily to school in Oakham, but soon she is going to have to get herself there and back on her own. It is amazing how fast her confidence has grown even since she started at the new school. This evening she went round to her friends house in Oakham and tomorrow she is going out with her friends after school for a coffee in the town. I knew she would change, but I didn't expect it to happen this quickly. 

Catherine, meanwhile is growing too without her sisters shadow to hide in. At last she can find herself and grow in confidence. The year six teacher at Langham is wonderful and I'm sure by the time it her turn to leave the school she will really have surprised herself. She so looking forward to going away with the school and I know it will do her the world of good. Catherine with her new independence invited her own friend around today and they had a great time together. 

The end of the day was as lovely as it started. The sun burned into the west producing a lovely sunset that promises a fine day today. I hope the old weather tales are right as have little Lucy is here tomorrow, it is just a shame the dashboard is still broken which has spoiled my weekend plans, but sure we think of something nice to do.

All Change!

Well the overnight weather didin't look good, as I went to bed the rain was falling again and the promise of the red sunset was gone. On waking the ground was wet and the sun was gone. It was not what we needed for our picnic or our trip to the country parks. 

With plans changed, I went and picked up Lucy. It was lovely to hear her voice excitedly calling daddy as I knocked on the door and even better to get a cuddle and a kiss as I strapped her into her car seat. All the way home she just chatted and chatted.

The morning was spent playing indoors and waiting for the ground to dry out. thankfully the sun kept trying to poke through and the rain stayed away. At one point emily and Lucy were watching television together, it was lovely to see the way they cuddled up together with George by their side. I'm not sure what Emily had found for them to watch but in the end Catherine joined them and they all really seemed to be enjoying it. 

Not to miss out totally on the picnic we got the blanket out of the car and put it out in the family room and the girls all sat on and had there lunch, minus George of course who had to be kept in the living room to avoid him pinching all the food. It might have not what we were expecting but the best we could do given the weather.

After lunch we were going to head out to the park to salvage something of the day out that the weather spoiled, but just as we were about to go out it started raining lightly. All the same we headed out to Stamford with some bread just in case the rain cleared to feed the ducks. 

When we got to Stamford the rain had turned into a torrent. Emily and Catherine got out of the car and fed the ducks from under a tree. They still got soaked but they said the ducks seemed to appreciate it. Lucy stayed in the car her coat didn't seem to be up to duck feeding in the rain. 

We next headed off to the large Morrisons for some food shopping. It was there that Catherine lost her phone, the problem was, however, she didn't notice it was gone until we are just about to leave Stamford. Catherine was quite upset, she loves her phone and waited ages to get it for her birthday. She said she left it in her bag on Emily's seat, but when we searched the back of the car it wasn't there. The whole searching process wasn't helped by the fact that my phone was out of credit so I couldn't call it. We turned the car round and headed back through Stamford to the supermarket. I went to the cash point to put credit on my phone while the car was being searched again, it wasn't until I got back to the car and rang the phone that we discovered that the phone was inside the shop. I'm so glad it turned up.

When we got home it was straight on with the cooking dinner. Tonight's menu chicken tikka masala, pilau rice and nan bread with a special treat for pudding yum yums. The only problem was there wasn't time to cook it and eat it all because of the lost phone. A quick text sorted that out and Lucy got to eat her pudding with her sisters, rather than having to take it home to eat it later at her mummies, however, Lucy still went home eating. She had a half an apple with her as well as the bag of sweets for Mary and herself that she got at Morrisons. 

Tonight Catherine came with me to drop off Lucy, it is the first time in ages that either of her two big sisters had come with me. After Lucy was back at her mummies we popped into the shops and then head off back home just as it started to spit with rain.

When we got home we discovered that Emily's sleep over had been moved to tonight and so Catherine is the only one of the three of them sleeping here tonight. It was nice to spend some time with her alone after she got home from seeing her friend.

All I hope tonights sunset brings better weather so that we can get to the country parks in Northamptonshire before the school holidays are over. It is a shame that little Lucy can't come with us but there is nothing that can be done about that. 

Nothing Day

It has been one of those days when nothing really gets done and nobody has the energy to bothered about wanting to do anything. Just a lazy day grey day. It's like the summer fun has deserted us.

I hope the sunset holds more promise of the fun returning tomorrow with the sun. May be it what we all  needed. We have had a busy and exciting four days with little Lucy. Time for some fun now before Emily and Catherine go off on holiday with there mum.

Park to Park

It was a lovely early summers day. The weather was hot and sultry. Just the weather to laze about in a park and to enjoy the sun while having a picnic. 

As usual I picked up the lovely Lucy at 10 o'clock. It so nice when I pick her up she gives me the biggest hug ever, a lovely kiss and then starts chatting as she clambers in the car. 

We arrived home. after a quick detour to the shops for bread where we saw her cousin Katie, and started cooking boiled eggs to make some sandwiches with for our picnic lunch and while they cooked we gathered other treats to add to our goodies bag for later. 

With the weather set fine the plan was travel round the parks that surround Rutland water eating at the first park before moving on to the next. With all the parking just costing £2 it was a cheap way to spend the day in lovely surroundings. And I mean lovely, I will never forget when I first saw Rutland water the memories of it beauty will e with me forever.

We first set off the secret park to have our play and have our picnic. It lovely there for picnic's the surroundings are lovely set in woodlands it a lovely place to sit and watch Lucy playing. It is amazing how good and careful she is at climbing up to the slide and how much joy she gets sliding down. She seem to love picnic and all the food and drink. She likes to eat then play and then return for more with a happy smiling face.

After we finished there we set off to find some ice cream from the shop at the adventure play ground further around Rutland Water on the north shore. There Lucy tucked into a ice lolly and another bottle of juice before setting off to play on all the things there are to do there. We stayed there quite a while, occasionally seeking the shade to cool down. Lucy thankfully was really good at keeping her hat on and only lost it a few times, although I guess it didn't matter if she did she was covered in sun cream.

After we left the adventure playground we set off for the south shore to go and look at Rutland water. It always looks bigger from that side than it does from the north shore. You get a real impression of the size of it. Lucy loved the pine cones and I told her how they close up when the air is damp and it is going to rain. She picked one up and carried it with her and later took it home to her mummies.

With time moving on we set off for home. Lucy had a grand time playing as I got dinner. Just a simple pasta dish but she loved every mouthful and the plate was clean by the end. Then it was time for her to go back home to her mummies which she did with a sigh. I think she must have had a good day but my day wasn't over yet...

With Emily, Catherine and Lucy all there mummies I had a lovely evening and managed to go out for a change. Along the way I took the photograph above of the sunset over Rutland Water from the south shore. I was thinking of going out in Oakham but the best made plans of mice and men all go wrong! But that is a story best left untold... One thing is for sure I would never have seen the stunning sunset and the DC3 that flew passed just after I had taken the picture above.
