Shopping with Lucy

If you have read the pervious posts then you will know that Lucy's mummy is poorly at the moment and she asked me to have a Lucy to help her rest to get better. So here is an extra Lucy day post to document our day.

I picked Lucy up at 10 like I would when I have her normally and we headed off back home to play and draw before we headed out into the big wide world for the day.

Today we headed out to Grantham, one of the closest larger towns which is some twenty or so miles from Langham.  It's not a place I have been to much before, and I have never been to the town centre, so it was a nice to go somewhere new. What was a pleasant surprise is that you can park for up to two hours for free, which is unusual these days. It must be good for keeping the town centre alive. Given the amount of time we had to kill we parked in one of the long stay car parks which wasn't overly expensive. 

When we got there the rain had started to fall so we headed off in the push chair to the new shopping centre I had seen on the drive in. We found a lovely café to have some lunch in. It was really pleasant and child friendly which is always a plus when you have a little one with you. There was even baby changing available in the toilets. Lucy wanted to sit in a high chair and picked the dark one. Normally I sit her in a chair but there is one advantage of of a high chair, she can't escape or play musical chairs. After a hearty lunch which resulted in a very messy coat and Lucy we headed for the shops.

Given the state of her coat we set off in search of a replacement in the charity shops around the town. There are quite a few to choose from none of which had any coats for children. This is not the first time I have searched for a coat for her in this way and what amazes me that I have never found one. There are all kinds of other clothes accept coats. However, we didn't leave the charity shops empty handed. Lucy found a large soft cuddly dog which she put in her push chair and proceeded to push around the shop with smiles of delight. She loved it and so there was no choice, it was a purchase.

After we finished with the charity shops we head off into some of the high street names you don't find in Rutland for a look around. Everyone we came across raised a smile at seeing a two year old in a push chair strapped in with a giant dog that was bigger than her.  

The last shop we went into was particularly amusing. Lucy decided she wanted to do some shopping. She got out the push chair and got herself a shopping basket. Soon she was going down the food isle loading her basket with bake beans, coffee, breakfast cereal and bread all of which I had to put back on the self. But that wasn't the end of it, she continued to do it. If she had her way she would have brought the whole shop. Loads of things went in the basket from picture frames to Pappa Pig footballs. The one she get was a new drinking cup which she need at home. She had a great time shopping.

All shopped out we headed home. Of course the new toy dog had to be strapped into the car next to Lucy to keep him safe! 

When we got home we played until Catherine came home when we started dancing and listening to music. Lucy just loves Us3 and has some real cool dance moves. All I can imagine is her mummy dances with her too.

It wasn't long before Emily came back with the fruits of her after school club. A homemade pizza that she had made herself. It smelt really lovely. It must of been good because the only person she shared it with was Lucy. A sure sign that it was really yummy.

All too soon it was time for Lucy to return to her mummy and Lucy's new dog was put to bed with a kiss and a cuddle. She got changed into the clothes she came in and her coat, all washed and clean and headed off to the car with me hand in hand. I leaving her but I have no choice.

As a footnote I must say Lucy's mummy no better than she was when I picked Lucy up. I hope she gets better soon.
