X-Factor - Act of the Week - Finals Part 1

Well we a nearly at the end of the X-Factor for this year and we have reached the first part of the final. Tonight saw one go from the final four left in the show and what a show it could have been, but in the end it never lived up to it's promise. One Direction were a disappointment and Cher was really mismatched with Will.i.am who live is amazingly disappointing. So the question is who took each round.

The frist round saw a lovely performance of "Here by me" from Matt that was beautifully sung with loads of feeling as always, however in pure terms of energy and attitude Cher pipped him to the post to win the round hands down. The song and her voice were a perfect match and the way the whole thing was staged was incredible. It was the first time she had really showed what she is made of and to me proved that she has what it takes to make it on the big stage. Rebecca as always was excellent but seems never to have that wow factor like Matt that makes her stand out as an individual. Poor One Direction showed their talent off ok but with what I thought was a poor song choice form them. It just made them sound boring and dull.

The winner of second round like the first was between two acts. Once again Matt was in the top two but this time he was joined by Rebecca who pipped him at the post. She just seemed more comfortable with the whole singing with a mega star thing and showed it in her performance. It was for this reason that she won the second round over Matt. Out of the remaining two acts One Direction were a clear third with Cher along way behind. The matching of Cher with someone that isn't good live was a dreadful mistake, it just didn't work at all. It was a bit like listening to someone having their teeth pulled.

When it came to the public vote it was always going to be touch and go for Cher, who left the show tonight, but if she had performed as well in the second round as she did in the first she would have more than deserved a place in the second half of the final tomorrow night. In the first round she was miles in front of One Direction whose performance was lack lustre while in the second they became a backing band for Robbie Williams and that was about it. If only she had a better partner in the second round she might just caused an upset and seen off one of the other acts.

So the final question is who do I think will win tomorrow night, well it has to go to Matt who has been the bookies favourite from the start followed by the equally good Rebecca in second and finally One Direction in third place, however saying that all of the four acts in tonights show deserve a chance on the big stage and I hope they all get it. I just hope in the real world One Direction don't have Simon picking their songs.
