You wouldn't think it is Summer

Well the day started off bright enough if you were up to see the dawn but it soon turned overcast and showery. Seems we have had two summers like this is a row now. Nice enough before the school holidays but as soon they start the weather goes down hill. 

The morning started gradually and late with no Lucy to wake us up. It seems strange she isn't about  being a Saturday and not seeing her yesterday it seems to have thrown all the days out. I even forgot to put the bin out on Thursday night. Fortunately I remembered in time and got it out before it was collected. I was first up, but went back to bed and then Catherine got up and watched a bit of TV before I joined her. Emily true to form as a practicing teenager was the last to get out of bed. I think she must need all that sleep to grow as fast as she is.

We all had a television lunch of fish fingers, chips and bake beans, before we started on the chores for the day. For the girls this meant bedroom cleaning and for me the kitchen and the living room floor. Hopefully this will just leave us with the family room and the bathroom to do after Lucy visits us tomorrow.

The trip to the park we had panned after the cleaning never took place. The weather was partly to blame but the other reason is it took Emily and Catherine much longer than it should have to clean the bedroom. It amazes me still how young adults can make a mess in seconds and then take hours to clean it up. You would have thought the incentive of going out would have been enough to get it done quickly. Basically they just have to much in there room. There is stuff there they have had since they were both Lucy's age and that is about to change.

The shopping trip had to be speedy and we had to get everything to keep us going to Monday. With Lucy here tomorrow we need to maximise the time we have and make the best use of it we can, so shopping is out. One of the things on the cards is an early Sunday lunch so the afternoon is left free.

After the shopping and dinner we finished off the cleaning by doing the living room and the kitchen. Thankfully that went a lot better than the bedroom cleaning and tasks were given out and completed. It is amazing how quickly things get done when we work as a team. If only Emily and Catherine could learn that lesson when they do their bedroom. I'm sure they will get there. I just hope it sooner than later. 

The results of the day are a very clean bedroom, a lovely smelling and clean living room and dinning room and a kitchen that only has the floor to be washed, if you excluded the bit of paper stuck the cupboard I noticed when I took a picture above, and the sink area to do. Even the walls got a wash down in the kitchen. It was a shame about the park but well done everyone for getting there in the end.

Looking at the weather forecast on the web and on the home weather station is looks like it might be fine, but knowing what it has been like lately it will probably be like today.
