Lazy Day

It has been one of those days that is so typically British in that the weather couldn't really make up it mind about what it wanted to be. Sometimes it was dull and cloudy, then it might rain for a bit only to be followed by the glorious sunshine. The cycle just seemed to repeated itself on and off during the day without settling down.

It was lovely to be woken up by the sound of little Lucy's voice rather than the sound of an alarm clock. We both headed down the stairs after gather her bits and bobs and we set up camp my chair and watched television with a drink while we both woke up. Eventually she said she was hungry so i gave her something to keep her going. There was something special coming up for breakfast. After she finished eating she went off to play in the family room getting me to join in her games.

Morning started properly when Emily and Catherine got up. Emily started cooking a breakfast treat of pancakes for Lucy who loved them the last time she was here. She was just brimming with excitement as the first one hit the plate covered in lemon juice with sprinkle of sugar. They all went down as well as they did last time. With breakfast out of the way the girls got on with playing for while before Lucy decided to settle down and watch Tom and Jerry on the television to take her through to lunch.

After a quick lunch of sandwiches the television went off and the girls got on with playing. The changeable weather still hadn't changed for the better so the play had to stay indoors, and with the ground wet and damp going out to the park was out of the question. Eventually Emily headed out for a sleepover with her friend Millie after getting me to wash all the things she needed, that she had forgot to bring down to wash earlier. Thankfully Lucy has got use to her sleepovers on friday nights and just gave her a big kiss and a cuddle before she left and she made no fuss like she use to in the past.

Just after Emily left the weather picked up and it looked to stay sunny for a while. So into the car we got and we headed out of the village into the countryside. The idea being just getting out for a while could get rid of that feeling of cabin fever you get when your stuck indoors all day. We headed out of Rutland to one of the villages the other side of the county border, Wymondham in Leicestershire. It is a lovely place and the people are very friendly and we spent sometime looking around village and the church. Some of the gardens in the village were covered in spring blooms and they were simply beautiful.

On the way back home we popped to the supermarket to get some food for dinner. Thankfully it didn't take long and it was rather fun and soon we were home and I got on with the cooking. Good thing too because we were rather late getting back from our trip out. As soon as I got in I cooked dinner as Catherine sat down with Lucy and they watched Tome and Jerry. Straight after dinner and some pudding Lucy had her stories, cuddles and kisses and went off to sleep. Catherine settled down to do her own thing before she joined her in the land of sleep a few hours later. 

It has been a lovely day and despite the weather we did manage to get out for a bit. It might have not been to the park but at least we got to look around somewhere new. I love the way the girls are keen to learn about the countryside, it is one of the good things I can take out of moving here, that and the fact they have the freedom to be children without worrying about the dangers of a city. I can't wait for tomorrow.
