Quieter Monday
Compared to yesterday it has been a quieter day than the day before. The weather has been on the whole cold and grey which has limited getting out in the fresh air and has meant a lot of the day has been spent indoors.
The morning started with the sound of Lucy's little voice calling my name and as soon as I dressed I went to find her smiling in bed. We went down to the living room together and started the process of waking up while having a drink and watching television. Before to long we were joined by Catherine and the two girls had breakfast together before going to play in the family room.
Things changed a bit when Emily got up and joined the other two girls. Soon Emily had made up a game of cops and robbers with George in the role of the police dog and we were all happily playing it. It took us to just before lunch time when Catherine went out to see her friends. It turned out that George didn't make a very good police dog, he just did as he wanted as always. It was a theme that was to stick for the rest of the day.
After lunch Emily, Lucy and myself played until I decided that I should get out with Lucy for a little while and get some fresh air. So off we went out into the village and made our way with the scooter to the village park. It was lovely walking past some of the houses in the village with there lovely gardens, especially the house with a beautiful flowing climber that was covering the frontage.
Once in the park it was straight off to skateboard ramp and she was soon zooming around and turning on the ramp. She fell over once but there wasn't a scratch and soon she was off on her way again. It wasn't long before the theme of cops and robbers entered into the fun and soon we were being chased all over the park. It was fun the way the swing became a helicopter, the chain bridge a bridge across a fast river, and the bouncy fish a boat and the van a get away car. In the end our hands got cold and we headed home leaving our perusers behind.
Once we got in I got on with cooking the dinner and there was more food to go round as Catherine friend she had been visiting invited her to a sleep over. Once again we all sat around the table to discuss the day and generally have a laugh as we ate. After the dinner the girls played until Lucy had to go to bed, and as always she fell straight to sleep after her stories and cuddles. Emily settled down in the living room and watched a DVD before going up to bed herself.
With the girls in bed, I put on my headphones, got out my iPod and started listening to music. It was a lovely way to end the evening listening to music and just sinking my mind in to the words and the feeling behind the songs. I just love music, especially good music.
In someways it has been a frustrating day. Personally I wanted to get out more than we did, but we can't always get what you want and the weather played a part in that. Thankfully there are another two days of having the girls together, another two sleeps for Lucy, and I plan to make the most of them if we are in or out.
