Rising Food Prices
The rate that things are going up in the shops is getting quite alarming. Just the basic things seem to have gone up anywhere between five to twenty percent. Mixed with that locally, Tescos have withdrawn some items and replaced them with more expensive items. This only adds to further increases to the weekly shopping bill.
It is easy to understand that a lot the prices rises are due to the increase in fuel prices that have been caused by the Banking crisis and extra money printed by the Government. This has caused the pound to fall against the dollar. However that doesn't excuse Tescos withdrawing items in favor for expensive items which have higher profit margins. What is sad that this will hit families on low incomes hardest. I know for myself there aren't spare pennies to spend on anything other than food. When things are like this food price rises hit you hard.
