Rushed Sunday

It was another one of those days that felt so rushed. The weather wasn't wonderful and the time just flew by with me feeling I didn't do anything really. It was not the sort of day I wanted at all by the one I was given.

The morning started much as the day before except Lucy was already awake when I went into her room. She must have heard me getting up because she had gathered all her things to together to take downstairs. It was all rather lovely. As we left the room we were joined by Catherine and the two girls headed off to the family room while I had my coffee. Once Catherine had Lucy all snuggled in her blanket she went off to the kitchen and return with breakfast for both of them, which they ate while watching television.

After breakfast the play began and they were eventually joined by Emily. I just got on with all the things to do. The washing of Lucy's clothes and her blanket as well as getting on with some cleaning. I didn't feel I got to play with them at all. If it wasn't for the occasional getting drinks and Lucy coming for a cuddle now and again I don't think I would have seen any of them. It was just one of those sort of mornings. I really don't like that when it happens. I want to make the most of the time they are together. It just means so much. Their aren't word to describe how important it is to me.

At around eleven I set out to the supermarket with Lucy. We just had to get some bits in for the day and more importantly something for lunch. There was so little time that I didn't even get to take Lucy into the shop. Everything felt so rushed. I can't say it put me in a good mood because it didn't. I just wanted more from the day than it was giving me. I just don't feel things are going my way at the moment and lady luck has disappeared. They say you make your own luck and I'm really trying but I can't seem to make it past first base. I'm sure I will get there in the end but it seems a hard slog. I know what I want to happen but not how to get there.

Once we were home again I carried on doing the washing and made everyone lunch. Everyone seemed hungry which was a good thing and most of the hot sausage rolls I made got munched. At least that went well and the girls seemed to be enjoying themselves which I guess is the main thing. As soon as they were finished they just started playing together around the house and the sound of their fun lifted my sprits, so at least not all was bad.

At two we started getting Lucy ready to return to Oakham To make sure she was nice and clean we gave her a bath. She had missed out the night before and I couldn't have her going back dirty and I wanted to do her hair. So I ran her a bath and Catherine played with her as I got all her things together ready for her return. When I got up to the bath again it was time to wash her hair and comb it through before Catherine dried it for her with the hairdryer. It sound like they were having fun as I did the dishwasher. I just wish I could have joined them.

All to soon three o'clock approached and I went to find Lucy playing with Catherine in her bedroom. It seemed a shame to split them up but it couldn't be helped.Catherine told Lucy they could carry on their game of Doctors next time she was here. Lucy gave Catherine a lovely kiss, I managed to snap, before she gave her a cuddle. Then downstairs she trotted to find Emily and repeat the procedure before heading out of the door with sweets herself and her other sister. All to soon she was in oakham. The door open it closed and she was gone without hardly a word being spoken. At least I got a really big cuddle before she went away.

When I got home the day was different as it always is, not in a bad way just different. Time changed and it moved more slowly. The girls got on with their own thing and the rush of the day seemed to slowly pass away. A Sunday dinner was cooked by myself and eventually the day came to an end for Emily and Catherine. That was the end of that.

I really feel that this weekend has be a washout. My aspirations for it have never been realized, but I could say that about a lot of things at the moment. Knowing your goals is one thing but achieving them is another. What makes this worse is knowing what is about to happen and what it means. The thing is to never give up and know tomorrow is another day and you never know your dreams might come true. At least I can always be thankful for the things that are good in life, there are some amongst the the rubbish that gets me down at times.
