X-Factor - The Twist
After last night exit show on the talent show X-Factor I started to wonder how fair the method used for getting rid of four acts, one from each group, really was. What sparked this off was the problem in my mind that losing Amelia Lilly in the first week was wrong. She had loads more talent than a lot of the acts that made it through into the second live show. It is clear you wouldn't have one of the worse acts in the show opening it, so something is wrong.
This is a snap shot of the number views for the video of the performances on Saturdays show which gives an indication of how popular the different acts were with people that use the site. What I have done is highlight the leaving acts.
Listening to what people have been saying about the show and some of the performances the figures from You Tube proved what I feared. We lost a good singer to some twist which was totally pointless and makes a laughing stock of the idea of the show being talent show. If it has a system that votes off people that had a chance of winning in the public eye just to grab rating for the Sunday show it is nothing but a farce. Losing one of the top five performers is hardly fair and what makes this worse is because Amelia Lilly has been on the lives shows she can't audition again for the show, however if she had left at the houses stage she could have, all because of a twist.
One other interesting thought came to mind as I looked at these figures, and I would love to have a snap shot of them before the Sunday Show started. I wonder if the Judges in there dressing rooms were on their smart phones looking at the similar figures from YouTube. Three out of the four judges correctly picked the artist that had the lowest viewing figures in there group. The one judge that did get it right was the one person who knew from the performance alone which act was the worse in his group.
I really don't like things that are clearly unfair especially when it is a programme that is billed as talent show. What the producers of the show did last night was unacceptable and could have ruined the chances of a sixteen year old girl of getting a break into the music business.
